Newark Liberty Airport parking

On-site EWR Airport parking includes short-term, daily and long-term economy lots and garages, which can all be booked in advance. Connected to the terminals by shuttle buses and the AirTrain system, all of them are just minutes away from the check-in desks. There is also some competitive value and convenience available from valet and ‘park and ride’ packages based at off-site parking lots.

Long Term Parking

Short Term Parking

Valet Parking

An economy parking lot designed for passengers on long breaks is located just a few minutes away on the edge of the airport property Free shuttle buses run between it and the three terminals 24 hours a day.

The short-term parking lots are extremely convenient for quick access to the terminals, especially if you're flying on a short weekend break or business trip. For longer trips, there are two lower-cost daily parking lots just beyond the central terminal area, but they are still very conveniently located for Terminals A and C. These daily lots have AirTrain stops connecting them to each individual terminal.

For added convenience, Newark International Airport also provides valet parking services. Requiring no reservation, you simply drop your car with the valet team and take the AirTrain to your terminal. The valet will take care of parking and have your car waiting for you when you get back.

Several off-site parking lots are also available and take the form of valet or ‘park and ride’ services. Off-site valets will meet you outside your terminal building to collect and return your car.

Guide to Newark Liberty Airport

Location of Newark Airport

About 15 miles (24 kilometers) due west from central Manhattan, Newark Airport is located between Newark, Elizabeth and Union, just across New Jersey Bay from Bayonne and Jersey City. Road connections from NYC are strong with the I-95 and I-78 running immediately past the airport from the Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel and George Washington Bridge.

Numerous rail and bus connections run from across the region; the Newark Liberty AirTrain shuttles between the terminals and Newark Liberty Airport Station. This is a calling point for Amtrak trains traveling between Philadelphia and New York and local NJ Transit trains running between Trenton, New York and Newark.

Bus services run from Philadelphia on Trans-Bridge Lines and go from the airport on the Newark Airport Express Bus, running to stops in Manhattan at Grand Central Station, Bryant Park and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

How to get to Newark Liberty Airport

Directions to Newark airport by car

Located 15 miles (24.1 kilometers) from central Manhattan in the 07114 ZIP Code, there are several options for reaching EWR Airport by car.

The I-95 can be reached by taking the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel or Holland Tunnel from Manhattan. It then runs south west directly past the airport. The I-78 can also be reached from the Holland Tunnel and takes a route through Jersey City before heading west, directly past the airport.

From further outside the Newark area, the I-95 connects most of the East Coast including Edison, Trenton, Philadelphia, Stamford and New Haven, whilst the I-78 is the best route in from Pittsburgh further west.

Whether you're arriving or departing from EWR, there are many additional road options, including taxis, limousines, rental cars and shared-ride shuttle services at the airport, across New York and online.

Shared-ride providers are the most straightforward way to get to Newark Liberty Airport from LaGuardia or JFK, with services from ETS Air Shuttle and All Country Express recommended by the airport itself.

Useful tips

Prepare for delays

Newark International can often be busy and chaotic and unfortunately suffers regular adverse weather conditions, which make it one of the worst airports in the country for flight delays and check-in waiting times. With relatively little to do at the airport and limited free WiFi, it's recommended that you take along some entertainment like a book to keep you occupied. If you're connecting through EWR to JFK or LaGuardia, make sure you leave at least two hours to do so.

Take care in Newark

Whilst most of Newark, particularly the tourist attractions, are safe places, the South Ward area immediately around Newark is run down and thefts are frequent. Even in the airport itself, thefts are sometimes reported by passengers sleeping in the terminals, so keep a close eye on your belongings at all times.

Newark Airport facilities

The Newark Liberty concessions program offers a good range of airport restaurants and stores to pick up last-minute travel essentials. You can find an up-to-date listing of the retailers in each terminal on the Official Newark Liberty International Airport Website.

Many additional passenger services are available and one of the most useful is the volunteer Travelers Aid team, who can answer questions and help passengers find their way around the airport. Private-hire bespoke Meet and Assist services are also available from Air General Traveler, Airport Butler and Airport Concierge.

If you have any inquiries in advance of traveling through Newark Airport, contact customer service on (+1) 973-961-6000.
